Keith Williams, a devoted family man, loving father and grandfather, and dedicated city engineer for the City of Douglasville, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Austell, Georgia at the age of 77. He was born on June 21, 1948, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, to the late Mr. Carl Lee Williams and the late Mrs. Charlene Johnson Williams.
Keith earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, which laid the foundation for his career serving the community as the city engineer for Douglasville for over 25 years. Before embarking on his career, Keith served honorably in the US Army, seeing live combat in the Vietnam War and receiving an Award of the Commander’s Commendation for valor in conflict on February 22nd and 23rd, 1969; a testament to his sense of duty and patriotism.
Family was the cornerstone of Keith’s life; his pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. Above all else, he treasured his marriage to Mrs. Sandra, sharing over 55 beautiful years together.
Keith's interests and hobbies were as vibrant as his personality. He was an avid train collector, particularly fond of Lionel Trains. A committed fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, his loyalty to his home state was evident. Golf was a lifelong passion, a game he played with enthusiasm and camaraderie. Keith was the inaugural Pinetree Country Club first flight club match play champion, but was more proud of how he introduced the game to his children. Keith also collected movie memorabilia, especially from the sci-fi genre. His love extended to the scenic town of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, a place close to his heart, and to travel, where he proudly visited every state in the United States, embracing the diversity and beauty of his country.
Keith’s life was a tapestry of meaningful experiences, built on a foundation of family love, professional dedication, and personal passions. Keith Williams will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and “Big Daddy”, proud engineer, and a man who found joy in the simple and profound things life had to offer.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kasey Laine Williams Novinger.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Mrs. Sandra Clemons Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Keith II and Tiffany Williams of Auburn, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Hubbard of Villa Rica, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Bonnie Williams of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Jessika Suttles, Jake Suttles, Brayden Williams, Landon Williams, Jackson Williams, and JR Novinger; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Georgia on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The graveside service will take place at Center Presbyterian Church in Tellico Plains, Tennessee on Sunday, May 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mickey Payne and Mr. Steve Moss officiating.
