Mrs. Kitty Duke Thompson, age 84, of Winston, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at her residence. She was born December 20, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. William Duke and the late Mrs. Polly Bessie Godfrey Duke. She was a member of Prayâs Mill Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She and her late husband, Ray Thompson, were very involved with Bill Arp Park and Recreation and because of this one of the fields is named âThompson Fieldâ. Mrs. Thompson attended the rededication of the field at Bill Arp last year and threw out the gameâs first pitch to her great grandson. Mrs. Thompson loved sports and was an avid basketball, football, and baseball fan especially enjoying the Atlanta Braves. She attended every baseball game of her great grandson including traveling to Florida for the Little League World Series. She attended many sporting events with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Thompson. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and James Trawick and JoAnne Thompson all of Douglasville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Ann Thompson of Bay Minette, AL and David and Carolyn Thompson of Douglasville; four sisters, Lucille Graves of Douglasville, Virginia Lawler of Villa Rica, Nita Willoughby of Temple, and Betty Hanes of Douglasville; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Beard officiating. Her daughter, Linda Trawick, will render the family eulogy. Interment will follow at Prayâs Mill Cemetery with the following grandchildren serving as pallbearers: Bo Adcock, Josh Thompson, Cody Griggs, Chip Griggs, David Johnson and Chris Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Thompson. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Monday, February 5, 2007 from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM and Tuesday, February 6, 2007 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour.
