Mr. James Lawrence Kilgore, Sr., age 84, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He was born November 7, 1927 in Villa Rica, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Andrew Jackson Kilgore, Sr. and Mrs. Maude Thomas Kilgore. Mr. Kilgore was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. He married Mary Lee Streetman on December 21, 1952 in Villa Rica, Georgia. Mr. Kilgore retired as an accountant with Sloan Paper Company. After retirement, he drove a bus for Cobb County Board of Education and Georgeâs Motor Coach. After moving to Villa Rica, he drove a bus for Oak Mountain Academy, Carrollton City Schools, and for many church groups. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Mary Lee Streetman Kilgore of Villa Rica; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Bobbie Kilgore of Douglasville and Mark and Mary Kilgore of Columbus, MS; daughter-in-law, Melinda Kilgore of Carrollton; brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Pat Kilgore of Tucker; 4 grandchildren, Andy and Amy Kilgore of Tuscaloosa, AL, Micah and Katie Kilgore of Carrollton, Mary Kilgore of Atlanta, and Matthew and Hayley Kilgore of Carrollton; great-grandchildren, Grace Ann Kilgore, Jack Kilgore, Gus Kilgore, Caz Kilgore and soon to be born, Clinton Kilgore; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Larry Kilgore, Mark Kilgore and Rev. Micah Kilgore officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Matthew Kilgore and John Springer. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica with Rev. Wayne Bray officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Lawrence Kilgore, Sr. may be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 4031 Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
