Leo Eric Lewis

November 11, 1963 — September 21, 2021

Leo Eric Lewis was born on November 11, 1963 to George C. and Mary D. Lewis. He grew up in Smethport, PA and graduated from Smethport High School. Upon graduation, he moved to Georgia, where he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Douglasville. Leo was the kindest of gentle men, who always had a twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. Taken from us all too soon, Leo passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at his residence in Douglasville. He is survived by his loving siblings Linda Hinaman, Phyllis (James) McWilliams, Rosemary Frizzi, Barbara (Gilbert) Geer, Patricia Cox, Mark (Lisa) Lewis, Gary Lewis, nine nieces and nephews and their families. Also surviving is his girlfriend of many years, Mechele Johnson. In addition to both parents, Leo was predeceased by three siblings, Robert, John, and Elaine Lewis; three brothers-in-law Ernie Frizzi, Sam Cox and Tom Hinaman, and one niece. Leo was a longtime, active member of Mableton Lodge #171 Free & Accepted Masons; Citizens Law Enforcement Academy Alumni for Douglas County and Douglasville Police Department; Shriners International, and First Baptist Church of Douglasville, where he served with the Greeters Ministry and was a member of the Singles Class taught by his brother, Mark. He also was active with Builders for Christ. He worked in the warehouse department at Corporate Express for numerous years. In recent years, he took great pleasure in spending time with his "adopted" family at Dallas Auto Mart. A Memorial Service to Honor and Celebrate the Life of Leo Lewis will be held on October 2, 2021 at 11AM at the First Baptist Church of Douglasville with Tim Akin, Senior Pastor and Dr. John Pennington officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11AM before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or to the charity of your choice. Messages of condolence may be sent the family at www.jones-wynn.com. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home and Crematory of Douglasville in charge of arrangements. 770-942-2311
