Leonard Wix

Rev. Leonard Woodrow “Bud” Wix, age 80, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. A Carroll County native, he was born October 1, 1930 the son of the late Mr. Ernest Alford Wix and the late Mrs. Annie Lois DeFoor Wix. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was devoted to the Lord and began his ministry in 1968 and continued serving the Lord for 43 years. He was Pastor at Camp Creek Baptist Church in Carrollton. His ministry continued at Gospel Time Baptist Church in Draketown, Freedom Baptist Church in Temple which he built, Welcome Hill Baptist Church in Buchanan and Old Path Baptist Church in Temple, which he founded. He then went back home to Gospel Time Baptist Church where he was a member. He had a heart for God and for ministering to people. He loved talking about the Word of God and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tara Dawn Green on January 11, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Sue Wilkins Wix of Villa Rica; son, Timothy Wix of Villa Rica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jayne and Charles Mobbs of Marietta and Lucius and Millie Ann Conner of Villa Rica; two grandchildren, Meggan and Matthew Edwards of Rome and Nikki Bedingfield of Villa Rica; one great-granddaughter, Ansley Grace Bright of Rome; mother-in-law, Jewell Wilkins of Villa Rica; several nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Gospel Time Baptist Church in Draketown with Rev. Horace Wilson and Rev. Buddy Cross officiating. Rev. Wix will lie in state from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM. Musical selections will be provided by Mrs. Virginia Boynton, Joy Brown, and James and Darlene Cole, Nancy Williams, Lucius Conner and Barbara Houston. Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Park in Villa Rica with Brother Ryan Williams officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers: Kevin Williams, Brother Ryan Williams, Ronald Prather, Bill Brown, Nathan Green and Danny Williams. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Those desiring to do so may make contributions in memory of Rev.
