Leroy Matthews

Mr. Leroy Matthews, 87, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008. A native of Villa Rica, he was born September 21, 1921. He married Christine Garner on February 14, 1941 in Dallas, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated G&M Manufacturing. He was the manager of Ray Sewell’s Manufacturing Company for many years and later after retiring he worked at the Richardson and Cole Hardware and at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Matthews Reynolds and his wife of 67 years, Christine Garner Matthews. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Mike Storey of Villa Rica and son, Barry Matthews of Villa Rica; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, December 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Neil Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in the Garden of Cornerstone. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
