Lessie Mae Thornton, 86, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born on February 15, 1937. She is the daughter of the late Alton Ealy and Addie Mae Matthews.
Lessie will be remembered for her deep love for her children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. Cooking was another passion that fueled her heart. For many years, she also dedicated herself to serving others at the "Old Villa Rica Hospital." Lessie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She lived a life guided by compassion and selflessness.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first two husbands, Buck George and Wilburn Thornton.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry (Terry) Cook of Carrollton and Shelia (Paul) Gibson of Villa Rica; four grandchildren, Shane (Amy) George, Kami (Justin) Coleman, Amanda (Kevin) Campbell, and Jason Ponder; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Bella, Riley, Rey, Skyla, and Riverlyn.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM from Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at New Georgia Baptist Church Cemetery.
