Sergeant Levi James Darden, age 58, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Regency Hospital in East Point, Georgia. He was born January 30, 1950 in Soperton, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Levi Darden and the late Mrs. Martha Mae McGahee Darden. Sgt. Darden retired in 1990 from the United States Army and then served as United States Marshall. He was a member of the Kingâs Way Baptist Church, Douglasville and was especially fond of sweet tea. Sgt. Darden is survived by his wife, Mrs. Denise Stockett Darden of Villa Rica; his daughters and son-in-law, Christine and Ray Dibble of Woodford, Virginia and Jennifer Darden of Villa Rica; his son, Steven Darden of Hinesville; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary Lampp, Lillian and J.C. Joiner and Martha Mae and Benton Kersey, all of Soperton; brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Darden and Lenton and Gina Darden, all of Soperton; three grandchildren, Samantha Kay Dibble, Thomas Ray Dibble and Cassaundra Marie Dibble; and several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia with Pastor Tyler Brown and Brother Dowry officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Monday, January 19, 2009 from 5:00 PM until the memorial hour.
