Linda Butler Carlisle

Linda Faye Butler Carlisle, 80, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on March 13, 2025 from lung cancer.

Linda was born in Haleyville, Alabama to Woodrow and Jewel Butler on April 7, 1944. She graduated from Haleyville High School. Linda joined the Army in 1963 and was discharged in 1964. In 1968, Linda met and married Emory Carlisle. With great determination and strength, she earned her law degree from Atlanta Law School in 1982 while working full time and raising her two daughters. She maintained a successful law practice in Cobb and Douglas Counties until retirement in 2016.

Linda’s love of travel took her around the world, enjoying more than 50 cruises over the years. She loved playing slot machines and won several jackpots at various casinos. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed bargain hunting, relaxing on the beach, and spending time with her family.

Linda is survived by her husband of more than 56 years Emory Lee Carlisle and daughters, Kellie Wright, Karen Carlisle, and step-daughter DeeDe Ellison; sisters Barbara Phillips and Brenda Hadaway; grandchildren: Jonathan Wright, Jacob Wright, Erica Wright, Morgan Lewis, Mallory Lewis, Bryant Lewis, Caelyn Ellison, Ashlyn Ellison, Emmet Ellison; and great-granddaughter Lennon Williams.

The family will receive visitors at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, GA on March 23, 2025 from 12pm-2pm with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2pm.
