Linda Wilkes Matthews, age 68, resident of Temple, Georgia and former resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away July 3, 2017 at Tanner Medical Center, Carrollton, Georgia, following a six year battle with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. Born November 18, 1948 in Maury County, Tennessee, daughter of Richard Wilkes and Doris Matlock Wilkes. She is survived by her husband, Jim Matthews, whom she married on August 16, 1968; children Ryan Matthews of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Blake and Amanda Matthews of Tallahassee, Florida and Brett and Krissy Matthews of Powder Springs, Georgia; sister Susan Wilkes Campbell of Bremen, Georgia; grandchildren: Ryanna Matthews, Addie Matthews, Anna Kate Matthews, Brady Matthews, and Noah Matthews; one great-grandchild, Carson Thompson. Per her wishes, Mrs. Matthews will be cremated. In lieu of a formal service, her family will have a private service celebrating the life and memories of Mrs. Matthews. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society (P.B. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123) or to your favorite charity.
