Mr. Louis Donald Downing, age 78, of Arnold Drive, Austell, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. He was born September 17, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Louis George Downing and the late Mrs. Alma Alice Duncan Downing. He worked as a paint foreman for Nabisco for 31 years and was a member of the Painters Local Union #193 in Atlanta. Mr. Downing was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Latham Lodge #12 where he had served as Worshipful Master, he was a member of the Shag Atlanta Dancing Association and he was a Shriner. He was a hot rod and antique car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows. Mr. Downing was of the Methodist faith. He was a wonderful husband and father and friend to everyone. He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Mrs. Earline Jennie Fowler Downing of Austell; his daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Tommy Wynn of Douglas; his sons and daughter-in-law, Joel and Margaret Downing of Douglasville, Ronny Downing of Kennesaw, Donny Downing, Jr. of Acworth and Sam Downing of Austell; four grandchildren, Michael Alexander, Brad Wynn, Katy Wynn and Lea Downing; and one great grandchild, Logan, also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Monday, November 17, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
