Mrs. Mary Louise Melton New, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018. She was born August 17, 1935 in Cuthbert, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. James Frank Melton and the late Mrs. Clara Mae Miller Melton. She and her late husband Mr. J.E. New owned and operated J.E. New Cleaning Service for many years. They worked together as Funeral Visitation Caregivers at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville and Villa Rica for many years. After his death, she went on to work at the funeral home serving the families and community until her health declined. She was a Proverbs 31 Woman that loved Jesus with all her heart. She was a member of Friendship Worship Center for many years. Mrs. New loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Earnest “J.E.” New; son, Earnest Wendell New; and sister, Laraine Melton Woody. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Tommy Reece of Hiram, Anita New Collins and Tommy Collins of Lithia Springs, Sharon and Jeff Keaton of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. David and Kathy New of Douglasville; sister, Rev. Frances George of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Diane Melton of Calhoun; brother-in-law, Bacel Woody, Jr. of Douglasville; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. David New officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Ryan Keaton, Logan Teal, Destin Holbrook, Stanley Flowers, and Ricky Holbrook.
