Lucile Meadows Wright of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on December 7, 2010. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Wright was born to the late Jobe and Mary Meadows. She was the oldest of three children. She was the longest living member of Beulah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in the children’s department for many years. She was a faithful member of the Doers Sunday School Class. She was a Fifty Year Charter Member, of the Douglasville Chapter 423 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a former Worthy Matron, and held the office of Secretary for many years. Mrs. Wright was a Volunteer at Parkway Regional Medical Center hosting the information desk for many years. She loved serving in this capacity. Being a cancer survivor herself for over 25 years she was an inspiration to so many. She made a lasting impression on many people because of her contagious smile and a strong source of hope and encouragement. Mrs. Wright retired from the Douglas County Health Department after Thirty Three Years where she served on the Board of Health for Douglas and Cobb Counties. Her passion in life was her family, her church, her friends, and cooking delicious meals for those she treasured. She truly had a love for people and a very special gift of making them feel loved and happy. She overcame many adversities but always had a smile on her face. She fought the battle of cancer on three different occasions in her life. With her positive outlook, many prayers, and the excellent care of her physicians, she became a cancer survivor for more than twenty seven years before succumbing to the disease. She lived life to the fullest, always inspiring and encouraging others to overcome the trials of life. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim of over 50 years, her brothers James and Frank Meadows both of Douglasville, Georgia. She is survived by an only daughter and son in law Mrs. Charlotte Wright Carnes and Earnest (Dunc) Carnes of Douglasville, Georgia, a grandson, Keith Carnes of Douglasville, Georgia; a granddaughter and grand son in law, Alicia and Drake Miller, a beloved great grandson Michael Drake Miller; two sister in laws, Mrs. Lorene Meadows of Douglasville, Georgia and Mrs. Sara Wright Lee of Douglasville, Georgia and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville with Rev. Wayne Bray and Rev. Danny Watters officiating. Mrs. Wright will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville. The following will serve as pallbearers: Tim Clower, Shane Martin, Marion Yancey, Virgil Holtzclaw, Nathan Shinkle and Matthew Shinkle. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
