Lucius Conner, the son of the late Doyle and Gussie Orean Wright Conner, entered the world on May 3, 1928 in Haralson County, and departed it surrounded by love in his home on February 4, 2024 (95 years old). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Millie Ann, after 55 years of loving marriage, and his precious daughter Wanona Cheatwood, along with eight siblings. He is survived by his devoted daughters Lydia (Ronald) Prather of Villa Rica and Joy (Bill) Brown of Villa Rica. Lucius leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of his grandchildren Wendi (Paul) Turner of Villa Rica, Shane (RayLene) Cheatwood, Heather McDonald (Mesa, AZ), Hannah (Nathan) Alderson of Huntsville, AL, Nathan (Shannon) Prather of Birmingham, AL, and Michelle Brown of Columbia, Mississippi. His memory lives on in the laughter of 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Barbara (Gene) Cohran of New Georgia.
Lucius was a veteran of the US Army and a retiree of the Ford Motor Company, where he proudly served as a union member for thirty years. A skilled woodworker, Lucius's craftsmanship was a testament to his dedication and attention to detail. Lucius served as the Choir Director at Gospel Time Baptist Church for over forty-four years, showcasing his love for music and his unwavering commitment to his faith and church. His church loved him so much that they celebrated Lucius Conner Day, near his birthday every year.
As a loyal and loving father, Lucius Conner's calm and consistent presence made him a pillar of strength for his family. Remaining true to his faith until the end, Lucius prayed daily for his family, leaving a legacy of devotion and love. Gratitude is extended to the family, friends, Sacred Journey Hospice Team and special caregivers who provided him with the dignity to spend his final years at home.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM from the Villa Rica Chapel at Jones-Wynn. Interment will follow in the Melrose Hill Memorial Gardens in Villa Rica with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Shane Cheatwood, Nathan Prather, Nathan Alderson, Samuel Alderson, Kuba Alderson and Christian Alderson and Paul Turner will serve as honorary pallbearer.
