Mack L. Popejoy

Mr. Mack Lorn Popejoy, 74, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Friday, February 1, 2008 at his home. He was born January 27, 1934 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri the son of the late Mr. Mack Popejoy and the late Mrs. Sadie Alwitta Pebbles Popejoy. He married Peggy Allen on January 23, 1953 in Ft. Worth, TX. Mr. Popejoy served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and later in the U.S. Navy in Oletha, Kansas. He was of the Baptist Faith and retired from U.S. Air following many years of service as an airline mechanic. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Allen Popejoy of Lithia Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Steve Aja of Winston; son, Richard Popejoy of Wilmington, NC; sister and brother-in-law, charlotte and Ed Moore of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Agatha Elliott of Austell and Ms. Mishtilda Allen of Niceville, FL; five grandchildren, Tracy Payne, Chris Gabioud, Ashlee Aja , Brittany Popejoy and Shawn Popejoy; 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, and McKinley; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Services will be conducted Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM (CST) from the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Vernon, Alabama. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
