Margaret Wates Cutts

April 20, 1932 — June 9, 2024

Margaret Cutts, 92, of Temple, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. She was born on April 20, 1932, the daughter of the late Dale and Hazel Cameron Wates.

She is described as having a heart full of love and her family was at the center of her world. She found great joy in teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and being involved in the women's auxiliary. Her faith was evident in her everyday life, and she was a cherished member of Guin Freewill Baptist for many years and First Baptist of Villa Rica for several years.

Margaret will always be remembered for her dedication and hard work alongside her husband Frank in managing Piggly Wiggly in Parrish, Alabama for many years. Her commitment to their business was truly admirable.

In addition to her devotion to her family and community, Margaret had a passion for gardening and flowers. She found solace and beauty in nurturing plants, and her green thumb brought happiness to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Cutts; brothers, Donald Wates, Delmon Wates, and Paul Wates; and sisters, Norma Jean Tucker and Bobby Sue Wates.

She is survived by her children, Vanessa (Ralph) Gruber of Whitesburg, GA, Monette Cutts Smith of Clearwater, FL, Baron (Celecia) Cutts of Clarksville, TN, and Robin (Kelly) Cutts of Temple, GA; brothers, Gary Wates of Moline, IL, David (Leigh) Wates of Kewanee, IL, and Phillip (Carolyn) Wates; seven grandchildren, Trevor Smith, Cara Cutts, Jamie Smith, Charla Gruber, Cayla (Shane) Staggs, Alex (fiancé Autumn Thatcher) Cutts, and Adam Cutts; one great-grandson, R.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
