Margaret “Peggy” Elizabeth Havey, age 85, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on February 23, 2024. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 12, 1938, to the late Mr. Walter T. King, Sr. and the late Mrs. Elizabeth A. Miller King.
During her time on this earth, Margaret touched the lives of many through her passions and hobbies. She was known for her love of baking, especially her famous banana bread and homemade fudge, as well as her enthusiasm for collecting Santas during Christmas and Cardinals throughout the year. Margaret's creative spirit also shone through in her fondness for making ceramics and bringing joy to family and friends through her love of holidays and gift giving. Margaret could always be found cheering on the Boston Bruins or glued to the TV watching countless hours of tennis. She found joy in simple pleasures like camping with her children in their younger years and attending church regularly. She took pride in her heritage and was a proud Irish Catholic woman.
Margaret was described as kind, thoughtful, lovely, sweet, caring, funny, and neat. In addition to her sparkling personality and varied interests, Margaret valued education and attended Katharine Gibbs College to further her knowledge and skills. She also valued being an account manager at the Department of Agriculture of the State of Massachusetts, where she retired from over 23 years ago.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband William Paul Havey; son, John “Jackie” M. Havey; brother Walter T. King, Jr.; and sister Carol M. King.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine M. (Timothy) Buckley of Wakefield, MA; Crissy A. (Reggie) Hudson of East Point, GA; son, Paul W. (Julie) Havey of Amesbury, MA; sister-in-law, Peggy Winter; grandchildren, Brett V. Buckley, Meghan E. (Cameron) Bando, Sarah A. Buckley, Chanelle E. (Joseph) Murphy; Deanna R. Havey; Larissa J. Havey; great-grandchildren, Brooks A., Buckley; Aspen C. Murphy; nephews, Joshua (Sina) King; Joseph King and Jonathan King; great-niece and nephew, Charlotte and Josh Jr. (JJ) King.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM, followed by the memorial service at 12:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home - Douglasville Chapel with Minister Fred Dudley officiating.
A funeral mass will be held in Massachusetts on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Sacred Heart Parish. 297 Main St. Malden, MA at 10:00 AM.
