Margaret Katherine Canup

Mrs. Margaret Katherine Matthews Canup, age 72, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010. She was born December 27, 1937 in East Point, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. John Lester Matthews and the late Mrs. Cora Lee Smith Matthews. She married Nathan Dell Canup on July 6, 1979 at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Red Hatters Society. She was devoted to her family and was lovingly called “Nana” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Nathan Dell Canup of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Mooney Darsey and her husband, Larry Darsey of Box Springs and Loraine Mooney Collins of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve E. Mooney, Jr. and Pamela Mooney of Douglasville, Wesley and Tammy Mooney of Carrollton, Terry Mooney of Powder Springs, and Stanley and Sherry Mooney of Snellville; brother, William Pratt of Good Hope; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Celebrant Glenn Gilmore officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
