Mrs. Margaret Loraine McLendon Payne, age 81 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020. She was born April 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Mr. Chester Arnold McLendon and the late Mrs. Francis Loraine Stitcher McLendon. Mrs. Payne worked as a library clerk and bus driver for the Heard County Board of Education. She was actively involved with Pregnancy Resource Center and Right to Life and served on the Heard County DFACS board. Mrs. Payne was a woman of strong faith in Christ Jesus. She enjoyed camping, sewing and crafting and was a loving wife and mother. The passion and love she had for her family was clearly evident.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Hand.
Mrs. Payne is survived by husband of over 61 years, Mr. Doyle Hensley Payne of Carrollton; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Parmer of Bowdon, Lynn and Connally Rice of Winston; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Donna Payne of Franklin; her sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Wilburn Agan of Douglasville; her brother and sister-in-law, David and Jo Marie McLendon of Baldwin; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 12:30PM until 1:30PM. The family requests and encourages wearing of masks. Funeral Services will be conducted from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Villa Rica, Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2:00PM with Reverends David McLendon and Josh Parmer officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, Georgia.
