Mrs. Margarete Eberlein Neese, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away on January 14, 2025 at
the age of 96. She was born in Nuremberg, Germany, to the late Mr. Johann Eberlein and the
late Mrs. Margarete Eberlein.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Raymond “Ray” Donald Neese.
Margarete came to the United States in 1953. She was sponsored by Michael N. Krilla, when
she immigrated to the U.S. She worked as a nanny to the Krilla, family.
Later she worked as a waitress at Fort McPherson. She met Ray in the early 70’s and she
married Ray on November 26, 1973. They moved from Atlanta to Lithia Springs in 1973 and
were married for 35 years until Ray’s passing on May 23, 2008.
Margarete was described as a “no nonsense” person with a big heart. She did not hold back
when something was on her mind but loved everyone. She especially loved the Krilla, children
and all children in general. She was known in the Park Place subdivision as ‘mother’ and
‘grandmother’ to many. She loved all the children in the neighborhood.
Close friends, Marcia and Jerry Phillips, described Margarete as an awesome cook and she
loved to cook for others. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and was an animal lover that
especially loved poodles – as she had 3 of her own through the years.
A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Margarete Neese on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at
11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Georgia with Pastor Francisco Artley
officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately after the service in the
