Mrs. Margie Elizabeth Overby Phagan, age 89, of Villa Rica, passed away, Sunday, December 14, 2014. She was born December 14, 1925 in Gwinnet County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Fonnie Kendall Overby and the late Mrs. Mildred Azelee Haynie Phagan. Mrs. Phagan was the lunch room manager at previously known Villa Rica Primary, now known as Glanton-Hindsman of the Carroll County School System for many years. She loved reading, cooking, gardening and her grandchildren. She was mother of the year in 1988 and Mrs. Oaks of Carrollton in 2010. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Villa Rica serving as a Sunday School Teacher, bible study and various committees, especially the food and care ministry. She was also a member of the Women of the Church.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James âWhiteyâ Andrew Phagan; grandson, John Andrew Phagan; brother, Kendall Overby and sister, Helen Bare. She is survived by her children, Dennis and Mary Phagan of Dalton, Dolores and Dale Sumner of Temple, Delane Phagan of Myrtle Beach, Daniel Phagan of Carrollton, Dewana and Randy Boyd of Villa Rica, Darla and Kyle Tanner of Rockmart; sister and brother-in-law, Eloise and Bob Lamb of Milledgeville; nine grandchildren, Dana and Mitch Land of Varnell, Jimmy and Christine Sumner of Villa Rica, Joe and Lottie Phagan of Carrollton, Angie and Saul Abrego of Douglasville, Stephen and Addie Boyd of Franklin, Jonathan Boyd of Villa Rica, Neta and Justin Cornwell of Cedartown, Hunter Tanner of Rockmart and Kyla Tanner of Rockmart ; fifteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Sadorf officiating. Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Garden. The following will serve as pallbearers, Joe Phagan, John Phagan, Jimmy Sumner, Stephen Boyd, Jonathan Boyd, Hunter Tanner, Mitch Land, and Jim Candler.
