Marie Anne Evans Long

Mrs. Marie Anne Evans Long, age 67, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. A native of Douglas County, she was born December 13, 1942 in Winston, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Clyde Evans and the late Mrs. Ima Jewell Couch Evans. She married Charles Raymond Long in Douglasville on December 7, 1963. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She retired from the Douglas County Board of Education where she served as a school bus driver for 17 years. She enjoyed yard sales and shopping for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren gave her life so much joy and they lovingly called her “Nana”. She was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a devoted sister and aunt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Frances Camp and Nellie Blanche Bagwell; brother, Johnny Evans. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Raymond Long of Douglasville; daughter, Michelle Davis of Hiram; Sisters and Brother-in-law, Ruth Fretwell of Buford, Jean Dukes of Douglasville, Verna Evans of Douglasville and Patricia and Collis Spivey of Douglasville; 3 grandchildren, Avery Brooks, Michalyn Davis, and Gracie Davis; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, April 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
