Marie Melton Smith

Marie Melton Smith, 87, of Villa Rica, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1937, the daughter of the late Carey Melton and the late Mable Nesmith.

Marie was a woman who was known to many for her unwavering dedication. Throughout her life, she made the most out of each day, bringing warmth and joy to those around her.

She was a devoted family member and faithful servant. She obtained her doctorate degree in Religious Education at Georgia Baptist Seminary. Marie's life was a testament to her beliefs and values. She lived her life with faith, and her commitment within her church. Marie sang in the church choir and devoted time to teaching Sunday School, where she inspired countless people through her love of learning and spiritual growth.

Marie was also a crafter, skillfully creating ornaments and blankets that showcased her creativity and attention to detail. Her love for homemaking extended into her passion for gardening, and she embraced the art of canning, preserving the fruits of her labors and sharing them with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William “Emory” Melton.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Golden Smith; children, Cory and Cindy Smith of Villa Rica, Robert and Lynn Smith, Jr. of Peachtree City, Tonya and Nesbitt Odom of Senoia and Jedidiah Smith of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Dan and Cheryl, David, Jennifer and Chad, Christina, Brittany and Matt, Mari-Beth and Corey, Mindy, Racheal and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Zander, Aidan, Miranda, Cooper, Mason, Zack, Kalista,, Khloe, Kalel, Lucas, Kaitlyn, and Sarah; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel with Dr. Nick Keller officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
