Marie Stone

Mrs. Mary “Marie” Sarah Stone, age 88, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. She was born July 4, 1923 in Naples, Italy. She was a homemaker and a devout member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Douglasville. She loved life, was a master gardener who loved flowers and was a loving and devoted mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Antonio “Tony” Ruggiero; her children, Betty Ann Metcalf and Andrew Burton Metcalf; and brother, Tony Ruggiero and sisters, Lucy Bragg and Connie Brink. She is survived by her son, Ron Metcalf of Lithia Springs; sister, Jane Lafredo of Eastchester, NY; and brother, Dominic Ruggiero of Eastchester, NY; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Memorial Mass will be conducted Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Fernando Molina-Restrepo officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. According to her wishes, her body was cremated. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Stone may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, Building Fund, 4401 Prestley Mill Road, Douglasville, GA 30135.
