Marilyn Eleanor James, 95, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 3, 2024. She was born on December 9, 1928, in Bath, Ohio, to the late Mr. Donald Clawson and the late Mrs. Dorothy Mae Brundage Clawson.
Marilyn had a true talent for cooking and found joy in preparing delicious meals for her family, especially during holidays. Family was at the center of Marilyn's world. She was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marilyn's selfless nature and caring spirit helped create a nurturing and loving home for her family. In addition to her remarkable familial bonds, Marilyn possessed a vibrant personality that radiated warmth and kindness. Her artistic flair was evident in everything she did; from the way she decorated her home to her fashion choices. Her quick wit and friendly demeanor endeared her to many. Aside from being an exceptional homemaker, Marilyn had several hobbies and interests that also brought her joy. She was an avid gardener with a deep love for flowers, and she possessed incredible sewing skills as a seamstress.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude “Bill” William James; siblings, Marge Jagger, Milly Hughes, Mary Gilbert and Richard Clawson. As well as son-in-law, Jay Gevin.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Vickie Gevin and Cynthia (Randy) Pickett; grandchildren, Justin (Brittany) Pickett, Mallorie (John) Peranich, and Mike (Alexa) Gevin; great-grandchildren, Rhett Pickett, Hayes Pickett, Ellie Peranich, Emmie Peranich, Eden Peranich, Endie Peranich and AJ Gevin. Additionally, she leaves behind an abundance of nieces and nephews from the Jagger, Hughes, Gilbert, and Clawson families.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home – Douglasville Chapel with Reverend Barry Thompson officiating. The inurnment will take place at Mozley Memorial Gardens, in Lithia Springs.
