Marion Carl Walton

Mr. Marion Carl Walton, age 89, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. He was born August 14, 1917 in Paulding County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Sidney Walton and the late Mrs. Savannah Odessa Mitchell Walton. Mr. Walton was a retired telephone installer for Western Electric and enjoyed spending time gardening and fishing. Mr. Walton was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Europe during World War II. He was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia, serving as an usher and church treasurer. Mr. Walton was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Walton is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Thomas Walton; daughter, Lynne Padgett; son, David Walton; sister and brother in law, Mildred and J. H. McKown; grandchildren, Jeff Thompson, Jennifer Moreland, Amy Thompson, Hannah Walton, and Joseph Walton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM from Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia with Pastor Wayne Bray officiating. Mr. Walton will lie in state at the church from 10:30 AM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, Georgia. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Tom Walton, Jimmy McKown, Greg Thomas, Jeff Moreland, and Kenneth Hatcher. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
