Mr. Marion Franklin Evans, age 73, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born October 2, 1937 in Trion, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Frank Richard Evans and the late Mrs. Nellie Bruster Evans. He was a member and a Deacon of the Church of God of Prophecy in Douglasville. He worked and retired from Owens Illinois in the Maintenance Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Shaw; brothers, J.R. Evans, Frank Richard Evans, Jr., and Paul Evans; brother-in-law, Roy Hembree. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mrs. Carolyn Cohran Evans of Douglasville; son, Ronald Evans of Douglasville; daughters, Patricia Baird of Palm Beach, FL., and Michelle Major of Douglasville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise Hembree of Villa Rica, Rebecca and Watson Cohran of Douglasville, Vernell and Dave Pliskie of Villa Rica and Brenda and Pete Ward of Winston; brother David Evans of Carrollton, and sister-in-law, Joyce Evans of Tennessee; 6 grandchildren, Emily Jill Baird, Wendy Baird, Taylor Baird all of Palm Beach, FL, Drew Major, Evan Major, and Carlie Major all of Douglasville; 2 great-grandchildren, Jack Baird of Florida, Lillie Major of Douglasville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 3:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. James Green and Rev. Byron Minter officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
