Marion Leone Hitchcock, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023. She was born on March 10, 1947. She is the daughter of the late Leo O’Connor and the late Grace Stella VanRentergehen.  Marion's warm and caring personality touched the lives of all who knew her.

Marion's journey began on a dairy farm in Michigan, where she spent her childhood . She was the youngest of six girls in her family. Marion developed a strong sense of resilience and a deep appreciation for family bonds.

As a mother, Marion poured her love into raising her son, Gerald P. Hitchcock Jr., four daughters: Regina (Darrell) Whitt of Hiwassee, GA; Diane (Greg) Brown of Temple, GA; Tina (Clay) Cooper of Villa Rica, GA; and Gena Hitchcock of Douglasville, GA. Marion was not just a loving mother but also a source of guidance and support to her children throughout their lives.

In addition to being a devoted mother and exceptional cook, Marion will be remembered as a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to her eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Marion took joy in seeing them grow and celebrating their achievements.

Marion's passion for cooking was well-known among her friends and family. She had an innate talent for creating mouthwatering dishes that brought people together. Whether it was during festive celebrations or casual get-togethers, Marion delighted in sharing her culinary creations with loved ones.


In addition to her husband, Gerald P. Hitchcock, Sr. and her children, Marion is survived by her sisters Carolyn Koch of Port Huron, MI; Clara (John) Will of Croswell, MI; brothers Ed (Beverly) O'Connor of Port Huron, MI; Wayne (Becky) O'Connor of The Villages, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald P. Hitchcock, Jr., brothers, Bill O’Connor, Bob O’Connor,  George O’Connor and Tommy O'Connor; sisters, Bea Norman, Marge Looney, and Cathy Ireland.


Marion Leone Hitchcock's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and shared meals. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace as we honor and remember the beautiful life she lived.

In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated. There are no further arrangements at this time.
