Marquerite Joan McEwen Jordan

March 1, 1930 — August 30, 2020

Mrs. Marguerite Joan (JoAnn) McEwen Jordan, age 90, of Centre, Alabama passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at her daughter's residence in Lithia Springs, Georgia following a lengthy illness. Born March 01, 1930 in Akron Ohio, she is the daughter of the late George Molten and Alice Myrtle Bradley McEwen. JoAnn worked for the Cherokee County Herald newspaper for 25 years, and So Sew Manufacturing for 5 years. She was a woman of eloquence, grace and integrity with a strong Christian faith and love of family, gardening, and cooking. She was a member of the Centre First United Methodist Church for over seventy years (Ralph Bates class) of Centre, Alabama. In addition to her parents, JoAnn is preceded in death by her brother, Russell Dewey McEwen; and her sister, Geraldine Virginia (Gerry) Dickerhoof. Mrs. Jordan is survived by her son, Danny Joe Jordan (Janet) of Belton, Texas; daughter, Judy Jordan Johnson of Lithia Springs, Georgia; her brother, Robert Molten (Bobby) McEwen (Dorothy) of Centre, Alabama; her sister, Patricia (Patti) Jean Morris (Charles) of Gadsden, Alabama; sister-in-law, Betty Ferguson McEwen of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; four grandchildren, Rodney (Dusty) Johnson (Tammy) of Temple, Georgia; Rhonda Michelle Donehoo of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; Jessica Pany (Bart) of College Station, Texas; and Jennifer Palmer (Brandon) of Victoria, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel, Centre, Alabama with Rev. Jeff Davis of Centre First United Methodist Church officiating. Perry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements in Centre, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Centre First United Methodist Church. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we will follow CDC and Perry Funeral Home Guidelines.
