Marsha Dunn Ackerman

Marsha Dunn Ackerman, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at her home in Lithia Springs, Georgia. She was born on December 9, 1945, in Austell, Georgia, to the late Mr. Homer Dunn and the late Mrs. Christine Norton Dunn.

Marsha carried with her the warmth and joy of a happy, family-oriented spirit. She was known affectionately as "Grandma Marsha" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—those she cherished above all else.

For many years, Marsha dedicated herself to her career with AT&T, where she worked diligently as a secretary in telecommunications. Beyond her professional life, Marsha found great joy and fulfillment in simpler pursuits that reflected her appreciation for nature and the outdoors. She loved to birdwatch, with a special fondness for hummingbirds. Gardening was another passion that allowed her to cultivate life and beauty, much like she did with her family and friends.

Marsha shared a remarkable partnership with her late husband, Mr. Ronnie Ackerman, with whom she embraced a unique and colorful pastime—competing in cowboy cooking competitions, often centered around authentic chuck wagons. Together, they shared countless moments at events that celebrated cultural heritage like the National Cowboy Poetry Gatherings.

Her joyful personality radiated throughout every room, and her happy demeanor was a beacon of comfort and love.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Ronnie Lee Ackerman; and daughter-in-law, Amy Ackerman.

Marsha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Pam Strickland; step son, John Ackerman; sister, Brenda Dunn; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Cody, Todd, Chris, Bobby, Allie, and Shay; six great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will also take place at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Derrick Harris officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Marsha Ackerman will be laid to rest at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
