Marsha Elizabeth Shadix

Marsha Elizabeth Shadix, born on March 22, 1952 to the late Lillie Mae Donaldson and Robert J. Smith, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. 

A devoted wife, mother and “Mamaw”, Marsha was known for her love of family and her vibrant spirit that could illuminate any room she entered.

She had a passion for gardening, as well as crocheting blankets. As a grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her grandkids, pouring her heart into their lives and ensuring they felt her love and encouragement. Her great sense of humor brought joy and laughter, creating memories that will be treasured among her family and friends.

An avid fan of country music, the Atlanta Braves, NASCAR, and the Georgia Bulldogs, Marsha's enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures was contagious. Her headstrong personality shaped her approach to life, forging a path paved with determination and resilience.

In addition to her parents, Marsha is preceded in death by her sisters, Nora Lewallen and Diane Parson; and her brothers, Terry Smith and Michael Smith. 

She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, John Shadix; her sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney (Shannon) Shadix, Brian (Stephanie) Shadix, stepson Robert Shadix; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine (Thomas) Wilson; as well as 7 grandchildren, Evan Shadix, Andrew Shadix, Kacee Miller, Trevor Shadix, Cali Miller, Hunter Shadix, and Ansley Shadix; and 1 great grandchild, Ronnie Kate.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Marsha was cremated. Her family will plan a private celebration of life at a later date.
