Martha Nell Arnold

Martha Nell Stancil Arnold, at 101 years old, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 16, 2026. She was born on May 11, 1925, in the city of Canton, Georgia and was in Canton at the time of her passing. Throughout her years, Martha cultivated a deep appreciation for life's pleasures. She especially enjoyed the serenity of the beach and was an avid shopper with a keen eye for identifying quality and treasures amongst the thrifted and antiqued. She loved jazz and blues music and was a regular attendee at the annual Blues Festival in Jacksonville, Florida. Although not professionally trained, she was a remarkable dancer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Nelson Arnold, Sr.; daughters, LaQuita Appleton, and Camille Yolanda Arnold. She is survived by her children, Nicolette Olds, Tanya Smith (William), Conrad Arnold, Jr. (Melissa); grandchildren, Abigail Arnold, Devin Arnold, Lindsey Butler (Jerrod), Lee Smith (Mitchell) and Anitra Bulmar, as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

As we remember Martha, we celebrate her longevity, spirit, her love of life, her resilience and energetic personality. Her health span remained strong until the last few weeks before her passing, and she was graced with a long lifespan of 101 years. She always said that she wanted to live forever, and she thanked God every day for this beautiful world we live in. She said it was like a fantasy tale world. She believed in living by what she knew was right rather than what was dictated by society, and she was especially a champion for her youngest daughter Camille that was born with Down Syndrome in 1971. Martha did it her way, loved life, and wanted everyone to “just be happy.” Her life touched many through her warmth, grace, generosity, her energetic nature, and the gentle joy she brought to all who knew her.
