Mrs. Martha "Avis" Ingram Arnold, age 99, of Villa Rica, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. She was born on June 29, 1925 in Lilly, GA to the late Mr. Colon Avis Ingram and the late Mrs. Amye Ruth Roberts Ingram.
Avis dedicated herself to her community and her loved ones. A devout member of Porterfield Baptist Church and a passionate member of the Rutland Community Garden club, she found joy in nurturing both plants and people. Avis’ nurturing spirit extended beyond gardening as she was lovingly referred to as the "neighborhood mom." Her caring nature allowed her to handle any situation with grace and compassion, whether it involved tending to children or even bravely facing down rattlesnakes.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James O "Salty" Arnold, Sr.; brother, William Howard Ingram; sister, Gladys Ruth Ingram Murray Odom.
She is survived by her son, Dr. James Orman (Fran) Arnold, Jr. of Hamptonville, NC; daughter, Avis Anne Arnold (Bob) Fritz, of Villa Rica; three granddaughters; six great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Porterfield Baptist Church in Macon, GA. The funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, GA.
