Mrs. Martha Belle Allen Franklin, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born June 10, 1927 in Fulton County, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. William Olin Allen, Sr. and the late Mrs. Gertrude Brown Carroll. She was of the Methodist Faith and was a homemaker. She founded the Panacea, Florida Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed genealogy research and was a member of the Daughters of the American Pioneers and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a founding member and helped in the organization of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Christopher Franklin, Sr.; her son, Michael Douglas Franklin, Sr.; brother, Olin Allen, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mike Friedeberg of Douglasville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Lesley Franklin of Marietta, GA and Randy âT.R.â Franklin of Kansas City, MO; daughter-in-law, Rita Franklin of Smyrna, GA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park.
