Martha Wix Smith

Mrs. Martha Wix Smith, age 89 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020. She was born September 25, 1931 in Draketown, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Luther D. Wix and the late Mrs. Deedie Caldwell Wix. Mrs. Smith was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. She worked by her husband's side tirelessly on the family farm. Mrs. Smith enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking and spending time with her family. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years who she was happily married to, Mr. Alfred Bradford Smith of Douglasville, Georgia; brothers, Hugh Wix, Glenn Wix, Max Wix, James Wix; and sister, Margie Wix Strickland. Mrs. Smith is survived by sons and daughters-in-laws, David and Joan Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Phil and Lisa Smith of Kennesaw, Georgia; sister, Mary Wix of Lawrenceville, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Juanita Wix of Douglasville, Georgia, Mary Wix (James' Mary) of Douglasville, Georgia; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Rosehaven Mausoleum with Rev. Gene Fields officiating. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.
