Martin J. "Jay" Posey, Jr.

Mr. Martin J. “Jay” Posey, Jr., age 91, of Carrollton Georgia, formerly of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born December 1, 1915 in Huntsville, Alabama the son of the late Mr. Martin J. Posey, Sr. and the late Mable Cooper Posey. He married Margaret Brown on March 21, 1937 in Alabama. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville. Mr. Posey worked in construction for 15 years and then later worked for Montgomery-Ward for 15 years. He and his wife owned and operated Marja’s Fashions in Huntsville, AL and in Douglasville, GA. Mr. Posey loved to travel with the Christian Travel Club. He had visited 49 of the U.S. States and all the Provinces of Canada. In addition his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Mrs. Margaret Brown Posey who passed away June 6, 2004 and their daughter, Gloria Posey. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and John Gaunder of Carrollton; two sisters, Bernice Land of Huntsville, AL and Vivian and Bob Bailey of Huntsville, AL; one granddaughter, Michelle Fox of Talking Rock, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Reverend Talmadge Chandler officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Mrs. Cloma Chandler. Graveside services will be conducted 4:00PM CST from the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL with Reverend Bobby Elders officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Friday, August 24, 2007 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
