Marvin Tyson, 95, of Carrollton, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025. He was born on September 22, 1929, in Villa Rica, Georgia to the late Thomas Watson Tyson and the late Louella Timmons Tyson.
He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1946. He then went on to serve in the US Air Force. During his twenty-one years in the Air Force, he visited many countries. He was awarded the bronze star medal for his exemplary leadership, personal endeavor and his devotion to duty.
While on assignment in Tripoli, Libya, he met his beloved and cherished wife Elisabeth Panebianco Tyson. They were married in June of 1956. They traveled the world together and lived in many places including France, New Jersey, Miami and Jacksonville, Florida. Marvin was very intelligent and he had an appetite for learning. He graduated Cum Laude in 1979 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ft. Lauderdale College. Not only did he graduate college, he also learned massage therapy. He went on to work at the United States Post Office for twenty years before retiring.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Tyson, Ralph Tyson, and Herman Tyson; sisters, Marie Daniell, Katherine Robertson, and Marion Norton.
He is survived by his wife Elisabeth Tyson; sister, Helen Tyson Weems; brothers, Kinney Tyson and Hubert (Linda) Tyson; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel. Interment will follow Melrose Hills Memorial Park
