Mary Ann Parson, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away at home on June 8, 2020 after a battle with cancer. She was born March 23, 1938 at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, third child of the late Edward and Mary Morgan. A devout Christian, Mary Ann loved her church and family beyond measure. After graduating Douglas County High School in 1955, she married, had three daughters, and began her career as a legal secretary in the Atlanta area for various firms over the years, spending the final years of her career before retirement as the executive assistant to a federal magistrate judge in Atlanta. She was an avid reader, solver of crossword puzzles and Scrabble aficionado, and her legacy is that of a kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband E.J. Parson, her older brother Ed Morgan, sister-in-law Rudean Morgan, and brother-in-law Floyd Hagler. Mrs. Parson is survived by sisters Virginia Hagler and Nancy Morgan; daughters Rebecca Hoffman, Judy Bellack and Glenda Culpepper; grandchildren Woody and Corrie Hoffman, Leah Hite, Sara McCleary, Samantha Cox and Spencer Bellack; and great-grandchildren June Jones, Addilynn McCleary, Logan Hite, and Hunter, Lilly, Kai and Loki Cox; as well as numerous extended family. In accordance with Mrs. Parson's wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service for family and friends will be scheduled for a later date at Lithia Springs United Methodist Church.
