Mrs. Mary Katherine âKayâ Godwin Cole of Douglasville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 after a long courageous battle with Parkinsonâs Disease and Dementia. She was 87 years old, born in Swansboro, North Carolina on January 3, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Mr. George Dewey Godwin and the late Mrs. Lillian Mae Jones Godwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Cole of Jacksonville, NC, sister, Pansy Benton, and brother-in-law Elbert Benton of Swansboro, NC. She retired from GreyStone Power Corporation after 24 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a hard worker and had a strong faith. She was a devout mother and an awesome grandmother. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Carol Walsh of Troy, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Abbie and Steve Dinning; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Lynn Walsh, daughter and son-in-law, Lucie and David Morris all of Douglasville; her brother and sister-in-law, A.D. and Beth Godwin of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren and their spouses, Katie and Jared Mawhorter, Ben and Jade Walsh, Erica and Bethany Walsh, Stephanie and Cason Britt, Courtney Dinning, Jeremy and Jessica Walsh, Alan and Rachel Walsh, Kenneth and Kim Morris, Daniel Morris, Michael Morris, Jonathan New and Andrea New; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her beloved caregiver, Mollie Wolf. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. A.D. Godwin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
