Mary Elene Chastain Massengale

Mrs. Mary Elene Chastain Massengale, age 84 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020. She was born December 29, 1935 in Gordon County the daughter of the late Mr. Andrew Norman Jackson Chastain and the late Mrs. Safrona Ivelet McCarter Chastain. She was an active member of Floyd Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her bible, sewing, painting, reading, gardening and writing scripture poetry. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James David Massengale; son, Manuel Clayton Massengale; brother, J.B. Chastain; sister, Annie Lucille Phillips. Mrs. Massengale is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws, Janice and Henry Wayne Allen of Douglasville, Georgia, Robin and Paul Higginbotham of Douglasville, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Kristy Massengale of Temple, Georgia; four grandchildren, Brandon Allen, Cori Jones, John Birmingham, Kimberly Ross; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Friday, February 7, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville with Rev. Keith Collins officiating.
