Mary Gilliland

Mary Riley Gilliland born July 16, 1931 went to Heaven on Monday July 29, 2019. Following her struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, she is reunited with her beloved husband David B. Gilliland. She was a dignified and gracious lady, loved by many. She lived much of her life in Lithia Springs, GA, and most recently at The Oaks Assisted Living Center, Carrollton, GA. She was a charter member of Lithia Heights Baptist Church, then a member of First Baptist Church Lithia Springs, GA. Mrs. Gilliland worked with the Life of Georgia Insurance Company, Atlanta GA (now VOYA), for over 30 years. During an interim period, she was a partner in Thompson Construction Company, Lithia Springs, GA. She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Barry and Kay Thompson and Bart and Vickie Thompson. She has five grandchildren Micah and Courtney Thompson, Carmen Dawson, Rachael Thompson, Luke Thompson, and her great grandson Halston Dawson. She is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Sue and Jimmy Gable and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. She was thankful for many good friends. On August 10, 2019 there will be visitation from 1:00-3:00pm, with Memorial Service following at 3:00pm. A graveside service will be at Sunrise Gardens of Memories, Douglasville. In lieu of flowers Mrs. Gilliland would be honored for donations to the First Baptist Church Lithia Springs, 10531 Veterans memorial Hwy, Lithia Springs, GA 30122.
