Mrs. Mary Louise Hay Thompson, 64, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. She was born April 24, 1941 in Douglas County, GA the daughter of the late Mr. James Paul Hay and the late Mrs. Gladys Willie Deal Hay. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Volunteer and served in Vacation Bible School. She worked for the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of the Georgia Softball Hall of Fame and received numerous awards and trophies. She was a founder of the first women’s softball league for Douglas County. She was very involved and supported the Special Olympics. She was a member of the Douglas/Cobb Mental Health Regional Board. She enjoyed gardening and bowling. She loved Christmastime and was a devoted grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Elaine Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mr. Virgil Thompson of Lithia Springs; three daughters and sons-in-law, Denel and Dennis James of Griffin, Phyllis and Andy Milner of Douglasville, and Paula and Tony Hasty of Crestview, FL; one son, Taylor Thompson of Lithia Springs; one brother, Hugh “Doug” Hay of Douglasville; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor David McLendon officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
