Mrs. Mary Carlyn Phillips Pope, age 76, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, at Northeast Atlanta Health and Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta following a brief illness. She was born December 30, 1937 in the Fairplay Community, the daughter of the late Rev. George W. Phillips and the late Mrs. Effie Bishop Phillips. She spent her career working as an Obstetrician Technician and an Operating Room Technician at several area hospitals. Family was most important to her. She loved her Grand Girls and they, in turn, loved their MawMaw. One of her favorite activities was cooking her familyâs favorites â banana pudding, fried okra, homemade biscuits, and red velvet cake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Ray Pope; second husband, Roland Tolison; and sisters, Margaret Fountain, Ruth Spruiell, Remona Strickland, and Dura Ann Thornton. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Jim Robinson of Dallas, Susan and John Buccellato of Atlanta, and Sharon and Don Stickel of Flovilla; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George H. and Chris Phillips of Temple and Damon and Jean Phillips of Winston; four Grand Girls who were the apple of her eye, Jennifer Glonek Rumford and her spouse, Jovan of Acworth, Kathleen âKatieâ Buccellato and her fiancé, Lane Crouse of Decatur, Allison Glonek of Canton, and Kristina Bates of Statesboro; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Glen Pittman officiating.
