Mrs. Mary Jones Taff, age 81, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. She was born August 24, 1931 in Monroeville, Alabama the daughter of the late Rev. R.K. Jones and the late Mrs. Leila Mae Tate Jones. She was a graduate of Central High School. She received her Bachelor Degree from the University of Montevallo, Masters Degree from Auburn University and Specialist Degree at Troy University. She worked with the Phenix City School System as a teacher for many years and retired as a District Lead Administrator. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Phenix City where she served as the church organist for many years, sang in the choir and taught the Friendship Sunday School Class.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Otis Taff; sister, Jedidah Jones; and brothers, Haniel Jones, David Jones and Lael Jones.She is survived by her children and their spouses, Barry and Virginia Taff of Destin, Florida, Amy and Ken Duncan of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Jan and Lamar Horne of Phenix City, Alabama; six sisters, Phoebe Johnston, Matred Perdue, Sarah Mae Cosby, Ruth Edna Sims, Lois Holt, and Martha Hyles; two brothers, Rev. Aziel Jones and Rev. Joel Jones; seven grandchildren, Wesley and Rebecca Taff, Brian Horne, Katie Taff, Brett Horne, Haleigh Duncan, Forrest Duncan, and Kara Duncan; one great-grandchild, Eli Taff; several nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church of Phenix City, 1600 Sandfort Road, Phenix City, Alabama 36867 on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2:00 Pm from the First United Methodist Church of Phenix City with Rev. Jim Meadows officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Steve Ward. Private Family Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
