Mrs. Mattie Imojean Minter Nichols, 81, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018. She was born November 23, 1936 in Rome, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Herman Minter and the late Mrs. Bessie Bell Lane Minter. She married Marvin Jim Nichols on November 19, 1949 and they were blessed with six children. She worked for the Cotton Mill for over 30 years and then as a substitute teacher for South Cobb High School for many years. A loving Christian woman, she was known for loving people and opening her home to everyone. She had a strong work ethic and she was devoted to family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Austell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Jim Nichols; sons, Dennis Wayne Nichols and Billy Stevie Nichols; and a grandson, Brian Wilkinson. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Larry and Tenia Nichols of Douglasville, Jimbo Nichols of Lithia Springs, Patsy and Danny Wilkinson and Mattie and Mike Adams all of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Lois Ann and Shorty O’Neal of Rome; brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Shirley Minter of Silver Creek; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor David Chaffin and Pastor Billy Lord officiating. Interment will follow at River View Memorial Park in Atlanta. The following will serve as pallbearers: Brent Nichols, Chris Wilkinson, Brandon Wilkinson, Bob Minter, Alex Slay, and Gavin Wilkinson.
