Mavis Yvonne Brown

Mavis Yvonne Sexton Brown, 86, of Carrollton, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 following a brief illness. Mae was born in San Antonio, Texas, August, 18, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Robert Sexton and Louise Sexton Vander Martin, also of San Antonio.

Regardless of where she went, she always considered herself a native Texan. Mae graduated from West Ga. College as an RN and worked in nursing for decades in Texas and all across the north Georgia area. Her skill, compassion and professionalism were greatly admired and appreciated among her peers and the patients she served. Mae was an avid reader and supporter of the Neva Lomason Library. Her taste in decorating was admired by all who knew and visited her. Any space that she inhabited was full of an eclectic mix of interesting and beautiful things.

Mae was preceded in death by daughter Laura Sacandy, and son, James C. Mathis, Jr. Survivors include husband, Carroll Brown, daughter Karen Sacandy, son Mark S. Sacandy and wife Rosemarie G. Sacandy, sister, Judy Hudgins and husband Gary, sister, Barbara Schmidt, brothers, Mike Sexton and Fred Vander Martin, grandchildren Natalie West and husband Josh, and Nicolas Sacandy and wife Karen and numerous great grandchildren.

There are no plans for a service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society.
