Melissa Nicole Hollis

Melissa Nicole Swafford, 42, of Villa Rica, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 16, 2026. She was born on February 20, 1984, the daughter of Jerry and Cheryl Swafford.

A Paulding County High School graduate, Melissa was known for her compassionate spirit and deep commitment to caring for others throughout her life. Melissa’s provided love and care to her grandmother during her illness. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family circle to the broader community, where she demonstrated a passionate resolve to help those struggling with addiction. Melissa took an active role in providing NARCAN, a life-saving medication, and through her efforts, she was able to save a life—a testament to her generosity and determination to make a meaningful difference.

A lover of animals, especially cats, Melissa found joy and comfort in their presence. She embraced creativity and self-expression through her hobbies, enjoying doing hair and make-up. Her fondness for bright colors reflected not only her personality but also a zest for life that touched everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Grover Swafford and Allene Swafford.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Sierra Walker of Dallas; son, Genoah Swafford of Villa Rica; sister Christyn Swafford of Temple; maternal grandparents, Hermon and Jane Hicks of Villa Rica, aunt, Tammy Hicks of Villa Rica; uncles, Douglas Swafford (Joyce) of Yorkville, and Donald Swafford (Sonya) of Villa Rica; one nephew, Dylan Gay of Temple; extended relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Gary Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Union Primitive Church Cemetery.

Melissa Nicole Hollis leaves behind memories defined by kindness, courage, and a heartfelt desire to make the world a better place. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who were fortunate to cross her path.
