Mr. Melville Delano âTeddyâ Reid, Sr., 59, of Douglasville passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born June 12, 1949 in Jamaica, West Indies the son of Mrs. Etta Gordon Reid of Atlanta and the late Mr. Cyrus Reid. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed preparing traditional Jamaican dishes as well as delicious Turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. One of his many hobbies included repairing automobiles. After recently receiving Christ as his Savior, his favorite pastime was listening to contemporary Christian music. He enjoyed watching Western movies. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Seales Reid of Douglasville; daughters and son-in-law, Delana and Brian Barit of Marietta and Shelese Reid of Douglasville; his son, Melville Delano Reid, Jr. of Douglasville; his mother, Etta Gordon Reid of Atlanta; one grandson, Isaiah Barit of Marietta; his siblings, Joy Wright, Aston Reid, Racquel Reid, Asquith Reid, Henrick Reid, Clinton Reid, Desmond Reid, Oscar Reid, Millicent Reid, Ridley Reid, Errol Reid, Dale Reid, John Reid, Clifton Reid, Cardiff Reid, Marlyn Reid, Samuel Reid, Kingsley Reid, and Neneita Reid; 52 nieces and nephews, 6 aunts, 2 uncles and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Stebelton officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Friday, September 5, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
