Mr. Merlin Doil Ivey, 69, of Bowdon, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born April 19, 1936 in Carroll County, Georgia the son of Mrs. Ida Summerville Ivey and the late Mr. Lonnie Martin Ivey. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked in residential and commercial construction. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth L. Ivey. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ivey of Bowdon; three daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Ryder of Gainesville, Paula and Roy Garner of Carrollton, and Teresa Mitchell of Carrollton; 6 sons, James Leonard Ivey of Waco, John Franklin Ivey of Carrollton, Martin Ivey of Carrollton, Joe Ivey of Carrollton, Dwayne Ivey of Tennessee, and Dillon Tyree of Bowdon; his mother, Ida Summerville Ivey Cleveland of Temple; three step children, Mandy Ricks of Temple, Russell Holbrook of Bowdon, and Steven Holbrook of Montezuma; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Eveline and Bishop Lee Roy Messer of Villa Rica, Dora Mae and Paul Bryant of Temple and Margaret Benefield of Temple; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Cleo and Tina Ivey of Villa Rica, Billy Joe Ivey of Temple, Lee Roy and Reba Ivey of Temple, Olin and Brenda Ivey of Temple, Dorsey and Patricia Ivey of Temple, and Arlin Ivey of Temple; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Bishop Lee Roy Messer and Mr. Steven Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica on Friday, October 14, 2005 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2005 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and on Sunday, October 16, 2005 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour.
