Michael Lackey

Michael D. Lackey, age 42, of Rockmart, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Friday, August 23, 2019 in Rockmart, GA. He was born December 21, 1976 in Douglasville, GA and was raised in a loving home. Mr. Lackey was a member of Local Union #72 of Atlanta for almost twelve years. Among his many talents he was a welder, mentor, loving father, dedicated companion, guitarist, had a volunteers heart and was an avid UGA football fan. Mr. Lackey is survived by his daughters, Savannah Lackey, Hannah Lackey, and Faith Sells; son, Ethan Thielbar; loving companion, Virginia Thielbar; extended family, Scott Thielbar, Dave and Kathy Thielbar, Kim and Mikey Bryant, Crystal Cogan, Jessica Godbold, Amanda Patterson, and Tonya Lackey. Thank you to all friends, co-workers and anyone with whom Michael had a relationship with. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. According to Mr. Lackey’s wishes he will be cremated following the services. Michael was a huge football fan and was excited about the upcoming UGA season and in honor of this, if friends wish to do so, they may wear their Georgia football apparel or their team of choice at the services.
